The Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project represents a major step towards digital policing in India. The system allows police personnel to access criminal records, First Information Reports (FIRs), investigation details, and other important databases in real time. It also facilitates better coordination among police organisations operating in different States.

Since organised crime, cybercrime, and terrorism often involve activities across multiple jurisdictions, an integrated digital platform significantly enhances the ability of law enforcement agencies to identify patterns, track offenders, and coordinate operations.
